New items

Hello! I’m working hard here at all my various endeavors. Right now I’m just finishing a rocking chair. I’ve owned the chair since I was little but it was never something you wanted to sit in for long. It had a woven rope seat and wasn’t that comfy (sorry, no before pics). So it was one of the first pieces I started painting but I set it aside when I had to figure out how to make a new seat.

This turned out to be a big, new thing for me. I had to buy and cut wood (with my new jigsaw!), get it screwed into the rocker frame without risking having someone sit on the screw ends(!), and then add foam, batting, and fabric. I’m still struggling with the staple gun and getting the fabric to stay on properly but I’m hoping to finish that tonight or tomorrow and get it in the booth tomorrow afternoon.

As you can see, I chose a cute red striped ticking fabric. The wood is painted off-white and then I added a stain to antique it.

I’m also finishing up the tea cart which you may recall from a previous post. I snagged it for $5 at a yard sale. I’m loving the blue-green color. I wanted to add some more interest to it, so I got some rosy copper metallic paint to pick out highlights. Right now I’m not happy with that so may redo it. It’s too messy even though I intend to wax an distress it, too. I don’t know… but I need to finish it up!

Here’s a peek if both the rocker and teacart – the lighting in my kitchen is terrible so ignore that!

My cousin is helping me start to decorate the booth for the holidays tomorrow. We’re putting in tree branches that are spray-painted white and have white lights on them.

I haven’t sold a lot more. I did sell one of my cake stands which was nice. I have so many other ideas but I just can’t find enough time in the day!

Last week I met the lovely lady who runs West River Bazaar which you can find on Krrb and Etsy. She specializes in Mid Century Modern and Hollywood Regency. We’re hoping to get a few other furniture ladies together and maybe even collaborate on marketing. If nothing else, it’s nice to meet other like minded people!
